In January 2009 a flood of the Parma torrent, more substantial than expected and unusual for the month of January, generated a state of attention for the entire municipal area of Colorno.
During this night of general alert, when the waters of Parma began to rise more consistently, the activation of the Colorno pumping station was also arranged. Two of the three pumps (each of 4.000 l/s) were put into operation, so after the technical tests
by Misa and the Consorzio di Bonifica Parmense, the system received its official inauguration in a crisis situation.
Its flawless functioning helped to bring back the crisis situation and restore the territory.
