Among the greatest works of man, dams are certainly the most fascinating and discussed.
However, their functions are manifold: sometimes the purpose is hydroelectric, in which the stored water is used to feed a hydroelectric power plant capable of transforming the hydraulic energy into electrical energy; other times is simply used as water
source for potable use, for irrigation or for industry.
Today some dams are open as public tourist destination, but their fundamental purpose remain maintaining millions and millions of cubic meters of water for multiple use.
